The three winning oils in the categories of the prestigious “Olio Capitale 2016” Competition at the tenth edition of the Trieste fair come from Spain and Puglia, selected by a triple jury of professional tasters, restaurateurs, and ordinary consumers. In the Light Fruity category, the victory went to the Spanish company Knolive Oils S.L. for “Knolive Epicure.” Puglia triumphed in the Medium Fruity category with “Monocultivar Uovo Di Piccione” from Societa’ Agricola Torre Riviera srl and in the Intense Fruity category with “Le Selezioni Coratina” from Azienda Agricola Le Tre Colonne by Salvatore Stallone. “Olio Capitale is an important initiative,” said Carlotta Pasetto, Onao taster and coordinator of the Competition, “for the promotion of the producer’s product, but above all for spreading correct information about olive oil through the courses organized during the event, which saw great participation. Olio Capitale is one of the few events dedicated exclusively to olive oil, and all those who work in the olive oil sector must be united in supporting this type of event because only in this way can the product be truly valued.” In addition to the three awards, honorable mentions were given by the popular jury to “Monocultivar Uovo di Piccione,” by the tasters’ jury to “Romano” from the Sicilian company Romano Vincenzo e C. sas, and by the restaurateurs’ jury to “Le Selezioni Coratina,” which also received the “Ex Albis Ulivis” mention.
